HuskyCon IX

This is from Alex Amann:

For those who are interested in heading down to Long Island in the middle of
August for a Diplomacy tournament, we have HuskyCon IX coming up.

The tournament is hosted by the gracious Woodrings in their beautiful house
right on Long Island Sound, a mere few miles from Port Jefferson There are
ferries back and forth from Bridgeport, CT, making travel there from New
England a not difficult thing (i.e. you don't have to travel through NYC).

I really enjoy this tournament, and I would recommend it as one you should
not miss (and I'll say the same later this year for Carnage). The
atmosphere is pretty laid back yet also competitive - it was the largest
Grand Prix event last year, if I'm not mistaken. There is no entry fee -
just get there, and you'll be able to crash somewhere in the house or even
in a tent in the backyard. There is always something to do if you've been
knocked out early or even choose not to play - we've had several folks in
the past come without any intent to play Diplomacy. The tournament
structure is set up in such a way that there's no Saturday round of
Diplomacy, giving even more opportunity for relaxing and socializing with
fellow Diplomacy folks.

For those who are interested, I'm sure there will be carpooling
opportunities from the Boston area, and likely northern Vermont. Post here
and we can figure those out as the time approaches.

Check out http://www.huskycon.com/ for more information. It looks like
there are almost four boards' worth of people already confirmed!
