Carnage, November 6 to November 8
This in from Robert Holt:
Hey gang!
Once again I am writing later than I had hoped about Carnage. In the last
month I've gotten married and started a new job. What did you do?
Anywho...
Carnage is November 6-8, 2008 at lovely Lake More Resort in Fairlee, VT (
http://www.carnagec on.com/). They are currently out of rooms, but are
putting people on a waiting list. Based on my past experience, the waiting
list usually has openings in the week or so before the convention, and folks
who show up on the day have been able to get rooms as well.
Past performance is not an indicator of future performance.
They are also recommending the Silver Maple
Lodge<http://www.silvermaplelodge.com/>down the street for your
lodging needs. I am once again happy to share the
TD room with those who need crash space. But I get a bed. Alex Amann has
also offered floor space in his room to anyone interested.
The Tournament scoring system will change. That's all I'm going to say for
now because I don't have my notes with me. If you're concerned, ask me, and
I'll send it to you. Otherwise, it will be available at the tournament.
I will be posting all-new tournament rules, etc. a little later, but the
most important changes are:
1. Central Clock
2. Drop-dead Deadlines
3. Timed Rounds
4. Public Draw Votes
I have well-considered reasons for each of these changes. If any of them
concern you, I'd be happy to talk about it off-list. Who knows? You could
change my mind in the next 2 months.
As far as travel, I will most likely be renting a vehicle. If you would like
to ride with me, the current plan is to leave Boston mid-morning, and make
our way to Vermont by early afternoon. If you want to join in on that,
please let me know soon, because I will cap off riders at the legal limit of
the vehicle.
