2009 CODcon in Chicago, April 18th and 19th

This in from Jim O'Kelley:

The Windy City Weasels are proud to present their third annual Diplomacy tournament at the CODCon gaming convention. The three-round 2009 CODCon Open Diplomacy Tournament will be held April 18-19. The format again will be best two of three rounds, and we'll use our familiar CODCon scoring system to score the tournament.

DipWorld's own Mike French is the tournament's two-time defending champion. This year, it could be you, but you can't win from home.

Here are the details:

What: A three-round Diplomacy tournament at the annual CODCon gamingconvention.

When: April 18 and 19.

Where: In the lounge area at the College of DuPage's Student Resource Center, 425 Fawell Boulevard, Glen Ellyn, Ill. 60137. Glen Ellyn is a Western suburb of Chicago.

Who: The Windy City Weasels is a Chicago-area club dedicated to the play of the classic boardgame Diplomacy. This tournament will be open to any convention attendee who wishes to play. A player need only participate in one round to be eligible for awards.

How Much: The CODCon registration fee is $5 for one day; $10 for a three-day pass. (The con starts on April 17.) In addition to the
convention registration fee, we will charge a $15 tournament fee, $10 for students and kids. The tournament fee is payable to our
tournament staff, not CODCon, and will ofset the cost of awards.

We'll be using a central clock with drop-dead timing in the first and third rounds this year.

Scoring: Each player's two best rounds will count for score. We'll be using a center-based scoring system. Therefore, all games will be DIAS, which means Draws Include All Survivors. Copies of the scoring system will be available at the Open. It's the same system we used last year and at Weasel Moot, with a modification to the scores for players who lose to a solo.

Awards: We'll award plaques for first through third place, as well as Best Country, and certificates for fourth through seventh
place.

Circuits: The 2009 CODCon Open is part of the Central Shuffle and the North American Diplomacy Federation Grand Prix.
