Time to Pre-Register for TempleCon 2009
This in from Jim Burgess:
Hi everyone,
Time to Pre-Register for TempleCon in Providence, the first of a planned four event Nor'easter set of Diplomacy events (the other three are Boston Massacre, HuskyCon, and Carnage), from Friday, February 6 through Sunday, February 8. It is being held in the Biltmore Hotel in the center of downtown Providence across the street from the Peter Pan intercity bus stop and just down the hill from the train station serving the Northeast Corridor, plus I can arrange Airport Pickups as well!
Round 1: Start 6PM on Friday, no official stop time, Venue is on 24 hour schedule.
Round 2: Start 9AM on Saturday, official Random Stop Time announced between 4 PM and 5PM to allow for meal break between rounds.
Round 3: Start 6PM on Saturday, no official stop time, Venue is on 24 hour schedule.
Round 4: Start Noon on Sunday, official Random Stop Time announced between 4PM and 5PM.
$30 is the pre-registration cost for the entire weekend, you must organize that with me (E-Mail me at jfburgess@gmail. com or send me $30 at Jim Burgess, 664 Smith Street, Providence, RI 02908-4327) to get the discounted rate. If you register on-site for just one day (e.g. Saturday) it will only be $25 and you can do that if you want to, but if you come for the whole weekend and don't preregister that will cost you $50, so if you want to do at least two days, let me know now so we can arrange pre-registration.
In a slight change, we will be using 17 minute Spring deadline and 15 minute Fall deadline turns with a continuously running Central Clock. We did this at Anti-Massacre last weekend and it worked really well.
The scoring system will be a modified Detour system with a 14 point game ante, you get 50 points to start just for playing!!! This will allow people to play as many rounds or skip as many rounds as they like and still have a good shot at placing. I have seven Best Country plaques I will be awarding as well.
Lastly, I have booked a crash room at the hotel for Friday and Saturday nights that has two King beds, a pull out couch and lots of room for crashing. I'm taking donations, but if you just want to crash, book a space in that room now with me! Regular rooms in the hotel are booking fast if you want your own room, so do that now!
Ask if you have any questions, I'm hoping this will be a much bigger tournament this year, I've heard from some out-of-towners who are planning to come already and will be posting a list as we get closer, Jim-Bob
