The Boston Massacre 2008

All and all I think we can call this years Massacre a success. We
had 4 boards on the Saturday morning and afternoon rounds, and 3
boards on Sunday. The numbers were pretty close to multiples of
seven which makes a TD's life much easier. I had Amanda there to
make up boards of seven as needed and for the Saturday morning round
including myself and Amanda we had exactly 28. The Saturday
afternoon round required two people to play two boards at once. Andy
Bartelone and Chris Martin both volunteered. Chris grumbled a bit on
my board as England he was attacked by FG and I did nothing to stop
it (R) in fact I might have taken Norway from him in Fall1902. As he
was playing two boards at once I guess I could have cut him more
slack but while he was struggling to keep his France afloat on the
other board he did end up topping it in the end albeit with only 7
centers. It's a testament to Chris that he can pull a game like that
out of the box under the most adverse circumstances. It's no wonder
he went on to win the Boston Massacre outright.

So thanks to all those came, and commiserations to those of you that
couldn't make it. We all had a great time, and maybe next year we'll
have an even bigger tournament.

And finally thank you to Amanda, Evan and Matt who sacrificed their
weekends to support me as TD so the tournament could run smoothly.
Amanda even came away with her very first ever Best Country award
just pipping Brian Shelden at the post. Maybe next year she'll be
more eager to sit in on a game rather than sit out.
