Update on eBay Diplomacy Sales

A few weeks back I posted an entry about what Diplomacy sets go for on eBay.  I just thought I would post a word of advisement regarding these sets for the holiday season.  Most likely because of the number of people buying sets as gifts for others, the bidding lately has been more active than usual.  I see 1976 Avalon Holl wooden-piece sets going for $50 or more (although it varies - some lots still show high bids of under $20), and the Hasbro set for over $100.

While I'm on the subject, here are a few ideas of things to get a Diplomacy fan for the holidays besides the typical entire sets:

Foreign-language  sets, such as those I've seen from France or Israel or elsewhere

Colonial Diplomacy - I'm not much of a fan, but you can find sets for $100

Extra wooden pieces; you can always use replacements!

A copy of Avalon Hill's "The Gamer's Guide to Diplomacy"

Issues of Avalon Hill's "The General" magzine including articles on Diplomacy or Colonial Diplomacy

A set of Machiavelli, which is regarded by many people as a variant of Diplomacy

Happy holidays, and happy stabbing!
